Request a Smoke Alarm Test

Since July 1st, 2016, installing working smoke alarms or detectors in all rental homes has become mandatory. At Ray White, we prioritise your safety and want to make sure your smoke alarms are in proper working order. If you have concerns about the functionality of your smoke alarms or cannot test them yourself, fill in the form below, and we will gladly schedule a visit to check and test them for you.

To comply with regulations, the following requirements must be met:

  1. Placement: A smoke alarm must be installed within 3 meters of each bedroom; alternatively, there should be one smoke alarm per bedroom.
  2. Multiple Levels: For multi-story or multi-level homes, smoke alarms must be installed on each level or story.
  3. Applicable Properties: Smoke alarms must be present in all rental homes, boarding houses, rental caravans, and self-contained sleeping units, adhering to the following specifications:
    • Photoelectric: Smoke alarms must be of the photoelectric type.
    • Battery Life: Smoke alarms should have a battery life of at least 8 years or be hard-wired.
    • Proper Installation: Smoke alarms must be installed according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
    • International Standards: Smoke alarms must meet international standards to ensure reliability and effectiveness.
